Site location

The perennial ice patch IP2 is located on Ward Hunt Island, off the north coast of Ellesmere Island.

Site description

The ice patch IP2 is located on the upper section of an hillslole between 115 and 140 m above sea level. Its surface is inclined at 10 to 140° and faces east-north-east. Its dimensions are approximately 400 m in length by 200 m in width at the end of the melting season. The maximum ice thickness was about 250 cm in the central part in the summer of 2017.
