Nordicana D brings together environmental and ecological datasets from observation networks and research projects across the Canadian North.

Current projects

01

SILA Network

Data are collected from the CEN SILA Network of environmental stations. The stations collect data such as air temperature, soil temperature, radiation, wind, the thickness of the snow cover, etc.

ADAPT project

ADAPT — Arctic Development and Adaptation to Permafrost in Transition — is an NSERC Discovery Frontiers grant that brings together 15 laboratories across Canada and many collaborations to develop an integrated Earth systems science framework on diverse aspects related to thawing permafrost conditions in the Canadian Arctic. This new Integrated Permafrost Systems Science approach focuses on how changing permafrost and snowfall affect tundra landscapes, water and wildlife, and the implications for Northern communities and industries that depend on these resources.

IPY - ArcticWOLVES

ArcticWOLVES is an international initiative developed for the International Polar Year (IPY) 2007-2008. The project built a network of circumpolar wildlife observatories in order to assess the current state of arctic terrestrial food webs over a large geographical range.

Boréalis

For short-term or non-longitudinal datasets — such as thesis data, single publications, or one-time studies — the CEN uses Boréalis, a Dataverse-based repository.
