Site description
Subsite: Disturbance / Surficial geology: Marine clay / Vegetation: Majority of vegetation removed by disturbance. Sparse moss cover (5 to 25%) with some graminoids, forbs and decidious shrubs (1 to 5%). Mostly bare soil and rocks.
Subsite: Mesic tundra / Surficial geology: Marine clay / Vegetation: 50 to 70% cover of graminoids (5 to 15 cm) and forbs (5 to 10 cm), with 5 to 25% cover of moss.
Subsite: Polar desert / Surficial geology: Marine clay / Vegetation: Very sparse graminoid and moss cover (0 to 1%). Mostly bare soil and rocks.
Subsite: Wet sedge / Surficial geology: Marine clay / Vegetation: 75 to 100% cover ofgraminoids. 1 to 5% cover of forbs and mosses.
The Cape Bounty Arctic Watershed Observatory (CBAWO) is located on the south-central coast of Melville Island, Nunavut in the Canadian High Arctic. The catchment is non-glacierized and characterized by continuous thick permafrost. Summer active layer dept
