Site description
Subsite: Birch shrub / Surficial geology: Organic soil horizon / Vegetation: Low stature birch hummock with main species being Betula glandulosa and Ledum decumbens, 100% cover density.
Subsite: Fen / Surficial geology: All organic soil horizon / Vegetation: Wet sedge fen, 100% cover density.
Subsite: Heath / Surficial geology: Sandy to very fine gravel material, fluvio-glacial / Vegetation: Dry heath dominated by evergreen shrubs, 75% cover density.
Three subsites were chosen at Daring Lake; heath, birch shrub, and fen.
