Embayment located on the northern coastline of Ellesmere Island.

Petersen Bay was dammed by the Petersen Ice Shelf until a large calving event in 2005. An ice-dammed lake was present from 1992 until 2005 (White et al. 2015). An ephemeral freshwater region was reported in 2008 where terrestrial streams entered the edge of Petersen Bay. Petersen Bay is a marine environment since 2009 and open water conditions are frequent (White et al. 2015).
