Informations: Site Resolute

 

Site Humid 4a N: 74°44'01.9'' W: 94°57'33.5''. Snow depth (SD) =27 cm. Depth hoar layer thickness (DH)=18 cm. Presence of large depth hoar cristals (5-8 mm). Lots of grass, probably carex, on the ground. An ice crust, formed just at the edge of the deep hoar layer, is present as a result of the percolation of surface melt and refreeze water. Sampling in the vicinity of the Inuit village of Resolute, located on Cornwallis Island, at the northern end of Resolute Bay and the Northwest Passage. Polar desert area.
