The perennial ice patch IP1 is located on Ward Hunt Island, off the north coast of Ellesmere Island.

Site description

   
The ice patch IP1 is located at the bottom of the north face of Walker Hill between 30 and 50 m above sea level. Its surface is inclined at 25 to 30° and faces northeast. Its dimensions are approximately 150 m long and 40 m wide at the end of the melting season. The maximum ice thickness was about 380 cm in the central part in the summer of 2017.
