|
This fiord contains the last known Arctic epishelf lake (a freshwater layer dammed by thick ice). This long and deep (at least 330 m deep) fiord is facing north and is shaded by steep terrain. Milne Fiord is dammed by the Milne Ice Shelf and has the Milne Glacier at its head. Samples were collected from Neige Bay, a bay on the eastern side of the fiord with a maximum depth of 80 m.
