Major cation

Water samples were filtered through pre-rinsed 0.2-µm cellulose acetate filters, acidified (HNO3; 0.2% final concentration) and analyzed by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry using an ICP-AES Agilent 5110 Dual View (US EPA Method 200.7). The major cations include: aluminium (Al), boron (B), barium (Ba), calcium (Ca), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), potassium (K), magnesium (Mg), manganese (Mn), sodium (Na), nickel (Ni), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), silicon (Si), strontium (Sr), zinc (Zn).
