Dissolved organic carbon concentration (DOC)

We filtered surface water through pre-rinsed cellulose acetate filters (0.2 µm) and stored samples in acid-washed and combusted glass vials, at 4°C in the dark. DOC quantification was carried out using a carbon analyzer TOC-5000A or TOC-VCPH (Shimadzu, Kyoto, Japan).
