Pond category defined for the purpose of the study. Categories are based on the geomorphological origin of the ponds and the level of permafrost erosion. The three categories are: (1) erosive ice-wedge trough (eIWT) ponds, (2) stable ice-wedge trough (sIWT) ponds, and (3) coalescent polygon ponds. The photo associated with the metadata shows an example of a pond for each category.
